British Airways has revealed its top 10 destinations and Mauritius makes it to the 9th place. Top of the list was Marrakech in Morocco. Also featured heavily in the top 10 are several destinations from the Caribbean and the US. The odd one out was Japan, the only country from the Far East to make it on the list.

Leisure travel

BA’s CEO, Willie Wash, comments:  “Tourism and leisure travel is a crucial focus for us, so growing our holidays business is a major part of our business plan.” He adds that revenues are up 55% this year, after an abysmal performance earlier this year when it was crippledby strikes and grounded by volcano ash from Iceland.

BA is also increasing their fuel surcharge for long-distance haul. The future will tell how it will affect the top 10 destinations list.

At the moment, Mauritius remains a top tropical holiday destination and the current snowy conditions in northern Europe only add to its appeal in the southern hemisphere.
